Finding this site may be the first step on your spiritual path, or an interest in continuing your search for Spirit, a Higher Power, Creator, God, Divine or an unnamed “it.”
Seeking the Spirit offers spiritual retreats, either at a retreat center or at your location.
A spiritual retreat offers a time and place to begin or continue your journey. We offer opportunities for people who are seeking to connect with and understand that which is larger than they, whatever its name.
What is a spiritual retreat?
Webster's dictionary defines "retreat" as "a period of retirement or seclusion, especially one devoted to religious contemplation away from the pressures of ordinary life". "Spiritual" refers to "the higher intellectual or endowments of the mind, intellect, consciousness or the moral feelings or states of the soul".
A spiritual retreat offers a place of quietude, perhaps with a teacher or guide, to rediscover the divinity that exists at the center of our lives. It can be a time to reflect and reconnect with elements of our lives that are forgotten in the “busyness” of everyday life.
You’ll find that a spiritual retreat provides an environment to rest body, mind and soul, and at the same time re-energizing and increasing awareness of the connection among them. You’ll leave the retreat refreshed and renewed.
What happens at a spiritual retreat?
Our programs are designed to offer small group as well as individual experiences. They combine focused workshops and free time for deeper understanding. There is silence and the opportunity to “make a joyful noise.” Through meditation, movement, creativity and sacred listening you will enjoy a time of refreshment and renewal. There’s even the chance to make new friends.
How can a spiritual retreat help me in my everyday life?
A retreat offers an opportunity to learn and experience new practices which may lead to shifting perceptions that can change our relationships with ourselves, others and the world around us. Much that is offered at a retreat can be repeated at home to continue the spiritual growth and happiness.
How will a retreat help me grow as a spiritual being?
We are, by nature, spiritual beings living human lives. Going on retreat allows us to break our ordinary patterns of daily life. When we turn off the television and cell phones, we are in an environment to affirm our commitment to spiritual priorities. In reflection and quiet we nourish ourselves and allow time and space for connecting with our inner divine selves.
Please join us on the journey.
